Is ripping off the Ramones the laziest thing a band can do? It depends. If you're the Spazzys or one of the sea of other generic Ramones knockoffs, than yeah, it's pretty fucking lazy (and boring too).
There's only ever been a handful of bands (most notably the Hanson Brothers/NoMeansNo) who've truly done the boys from Queens justice. None of these bands were content to coast along by simply aping the most recognisable sound in punk. They all made it their own.
Brisbane's Woodboot get that. Rocket to Russia with a dash of the Saints, delivered with a raw, loosey goosey hardcore edge. That's how you do it.
