The director of The Wicker Man has died, aged 86. Despite the fact that he only has a tiny handful of filmmaking credits to his name, Hardy will be remembered as the director of one of the most unique, unsettling and powerful horror movies ever made. In a genre known for recycling ideas until they wear out, The Wicker Man is unlike any film made before or since.
